Reporting misuse

Sparkler Room carries files directly between two devices that have paired in person. We operate no server that receives or stores what people send, so we cannot see the content of any transfer and have nothing to search.

If someone is using the app to send you something unwanted, the fastest remedy is in your hands and takes effect immediately:

If you want to report a person or an incident to us, write to support@sparkler.direct with whatever detail you can share. We will respond, and where the law requires it we will cooperate with the authorities. Be aware that because transfers are end-to-end encrypted and never pass through our systems, we have no copy of the content and no record that a room existed.

Common questions

A transfer is slow

Check the connection badge in the room. Direct connection means the devices are talking to each other and speed depends on your local network. Relayed means a direct path could not be established — usually a mobile or office network in the way — and traffic is being forwarded, which is slower. Moving both devices onto the same Wi-Fi often fixes it.

The room ended on its own

Rooms have a lifetime the host chooses. When it runs out the room closes and the shared folder goes with it. That is the intended behaviour.

I cannot save a file I received

The host turned off saving for that room. The file can be viewed while the room is open and is removed from your device when you leave. These restrictions are enforced by the app on each device — they are not DRM, and the app says so inside the room rather than implying more than it delivers.

Scanning the code does not work

Make sure the code is fully drawn before scanning, and that the screen is bright. You can also tap Copy or Share on the host's device and paste the address on the joining device instead.
